AVL DiTEST hits record sales levels again in 2019: Sales growth powered by E-Mobility and Emission Measurement business units

GRAZ. Fiscal year 2019 is the second consecutive year of record turnover in the history of AVL DiTEST. With consolidated sales of 57.4 million euros, the Graz-based vehicle diagnostics and measurement technology specialist continues to build on its success. The E-Mobility and Emission Measurement business units were the driving forces.
Following on from the 28% increase in sales in 2018, itself a record year, AVL DiTEST has gone on to hit new heights in 2019. Its impressive growth levels were not just maintained – sales of 57.4 million euros in 2019 represent another new high, something that is not unusual in the history of the company.
Since its foundation in 1999, the automotive test and measurement technology company has seen a more than an 8-fold increase in growth. Gerald Lackner, Managing Director of AVL DiTEST, forecast an excellent result for 2019 and was proved right. "Having a strategic outlook towards the future is a well-established tenet of our company. We have always seen the technological revolution as an opportunity, not a threat," an attitude demonstrated by a remarkable R&D ratio of nearly 20%, as well as a balanced product portfolio with carefully selected focus areas.
Growth in both e-mobility and emission measurement technology
AVL DiTEST confirmed its pioneering role by doubling its e-mobility sales in 2019 compared to the previous year. "We recognised the opportunity early on," Lackner notes. "It's now more than 10 years since our specialists developed the first high-voltage measuring device for electric vehicles." A knowledge advantage that now stands AVL DiTEST in good stead and gives it a decisive advantage, particularly in the rapidly developing e-mobility sector.
Emission measurement technology also remains an important business unit. "Internal combustion engines will still be running alongside electric vehicles for the foreseeable future," says Lackner. "In addition to e-mobility, emission testing therefore remains another focus of our research." AVL DiTEST experts are actively involved in the drafting of emission testing legislation and, with their precise monitoring procedures, play an important role. Two in-house, accredited calibration laboratories ensure that emissions measuring equipment leaves production with a calibration certificate.
A glimpse into the future
These record sales figures mean that AVL DiTEST was able to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company in 2019 in the best possible way and can look forward optimistically to the future, despite the current difficulties. "Of course, we're not impervious to the current Covid-19 crisis," says Gerald Lackner. "However, we were able to react quickly and in a considered manner thanks to careful planning, agile working methods and clear decision-making procedures. Our long-term strategy has proved its worth, so we are pushing ahead with our innovation roadmap."
Reflecting the company slogan "PASSION INNOVATES FUTURE", the innovative solutions from AVL DiTEST will certainly shape the automotive after-sales sector in the years ahead.
